May Bellabox

My first Bellabox arrived this morning!

I love the packaging. Just trying to figure out what to do with it...

Udderly Smooth Udder Cream
This 'udder cream' (*shiver) works really well. I find that it's similar to Vaseline's conditioning lotion, in that it's moisturising but non-greasy. I'm not a huge fan of the scent, but the texture is great.

Bloom Lip Stain- Rhubarb
"You see these red wine lips, I didn't dream of this" (cheers to those to know where this is from!). This gives really nice colour, but is quite drying.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo
I haven't tried this yet, but is said to clear up clogged pores, remove dead skin and reduce redness. The photo distorts the size, but it's only as big as my index finger!

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Foaming Gel
The description of this sounds like a regular cleanser. It removes makeup, oil and dirt.

Manicare Duo Mascara Brushes
I honestly didn't know these existed, but they sound interesting. You can test out different mascaras without having to buy 2! The blue brushes give extra volume while the red brushes give extra curl.

Sanctuary Spa Brightening Facial Illuminating Moisture Lotion SPF 15
The photo doesn't do justice to the packaging! This sounds like an all-round great product. It has SPF, anti-aging benefits, is hydrating and gives a luminous glow.

Nanoblur
Nanoblur
10 years younger in 40 seconds?! The description says that it makes skin look airbrushed in 40 seconds... My mum tried it and it appeared to work, but when she washed it off her skin looked the same as when she had it on.

The lip stain was my favourite product. This Bellabox was satisfactory, but I hope the next one will be better!

Retail therapy

A bit of shopping once in a while never hurt anyone.

Cocolatte, $14.99
This is a deep reddish-purple colour and it fits nicely. I normally have to alter my pants, but this is the perfect length.

Blue Jade, $10
These are leggings but they have back pockets and details, so it doesn't look like leggings. I don't like the look of leggings without anything covering my butt... They are extremely comfortable.

Priceline, Savvy basic brush set, $9.99, Lip Tint, $7.99
I'm not a huge makeup user but have decided to purchase a few basic (& inexpensive!) brushes. They're not the most high quality brushes but considering how single brushes are > $8, this was a steal. I also bought the ModelsPrefer Moisture Lust Glossy Lip Tint in the colour Candy Licious, which feels so moisturising and smooth. The adds some colour and is a moisturiser.

Nikita

After 3 seasons, there are only 6 episodes left! I've been following since 2011 and have been a loyal viewer, waiting religiously each week. Each character is likeable (even Percy and Amanda!). You know a show is good when you love both sides.

How do you feel about the final 6 episodes?

The dirty truth

The Not-So-Dirty Truth About Dirt
care2.com
All our lives, we have been trained to be clean. You don't want a trail of muddy footprints leading out into the backyard, do you? Care2.com gives the not-so-dirty truth about dirt:

Strengthen the immune system. Boosts the immune system by being exposed to millions of microbes.

Boosts happiness. Bristol University's study found that the bacteria mycobacterium vaccae increases the production of serotonin, a contributor to feelings of well-being and happiness.

Detox the body. Clay masks draw impurities from the pores.

The first two benefits alone should be enough to get you rolling around in the mud (or at least not be scared of it!).

Hakuna matata

A billion things to do... but we're so overwhelmed that we'd rather lounge around and get nothing done. We've all (hopefully not all) experienced these moments. When these moments come, remember what The Lion King taught us:

Patterns & colours

We all know that colours can affect your mood, but what about patterns? There's nothing like quirky colours and patterns to lift your spirits! These pictures from weheartit.com have definitely inspired me to get creative.

I have much respect for people who possess the skills to create such intricate of details! Picture this with a white/beige/pale pink dress... Spring is such a long way away.

Love the arrangement of the flowers and plants. The colours are so calming yet the image as a whole makes me want to jump around!

The patterns spice up this brown backpack. Each section has different patterns, from stripes to zig-zag, but is balanced out by the brown. No need to sacrifice comfort for style when you have this.

I can picture this image as part of a scarf. The sharp lines and corners add some flare to a pink scarf.

Are you a sucker for patterns and colours?

Harmonies, violin & ukulele

The Good Mad may sound like a strange band name, but Allie Gonino has an explanation, "There is madness in all of us. We have the choice to use our madness to create something for the good of all and illuminate the ugly truth in a beautiful way… or to divide and conquer. This music is our attempt at the former." I'm extremely glad that they're musicians.

Who knew that The Lying Game would teach us anything other than lies and betrayal (it's a great show, don't get me wrong!). After hearing Allie sing on the show, I HAD to check out her Wikipedia page. Laurel is by far my favourite character on the show!

For the last few weeks, I have been tapping, humming (where are all the lyrics?!) and bopping along to the 5 songs on their website. The folk style music is different - and way better! - than the current pop songs on the radio. I love ALL the songs, but there's something about Coconut Grove that makes me want to put it on repeat. Maybe the image of driving past orchards in the countryside with your head out the window of a pickup truck?

Trust me, you will not regret it!

What's your favourite song/band/musician?

Bellabox!

As a reward for finishing an assignment, I had decided that I would subscribe for the monthly Bellabox. I worked really hard ;) This definitely applies to me (courtesy of weheartit.com).

I was deciding between the Bellabox or Lust Have It.

Bellabox:
  • $15 a month
  • 4-5 products (sample or full sized)
Lust Have It:
  • $20 a month
  • 7-8 products (sample or full)
I ended up settling with Bellabox because there are fewer products (this may sound strange haha). I didn't want to be overloaded with products that I wouldn't have time to use and not be able to test them out thoroughly. It's also cheaper, but the value for $$ isn't as great as Lust Have It.

Do you think the Bellabox is worth subscribing to? What are some products you received from Bellabox that you cannot live without?

Here's a link to Bellabox if you want more info.
