30 Day Snap #30

The month has gone by so quickly!

I feel that this wraps up the 30 Day Snap quite nicely. The end of a day and the end of the month.

This wasn't an easy challenge, and some days were more interesting than others but I've enjoyed it nonetheless.

I've found a new love for juice. Besides from orange and mango, I've been drinking apricot juice. It smells like peaches rather than apricots... but nonetheless, it's sweet, fruity goodness.

I'm drinking it in an Arnott's mug :)

Do you have a part of your room that makes you happy every time you look at it? This is one of my favourites.
All these were given as gifts except the 2 orange and pink flowers.

What do you like about your room?

Someone did some shopping today :)

I love the look and feel of these boots. They feel as if there's no heel at all.

Gotta have some froyo on a cold winter's night! Taro and green tea with mochi and sour strips mmmm.

Still organising little things like all these packs of cards. The 3 on the left are regular playing cards. My favourite is the Naruto one (2nd from the left).

Being a future educator, I found this quite interesting although it's focused on American schools.

June Bellabox!

Every month feels like your birthday with Bellabox (or any beauty box)! I must say that I'd prefer this months box than last months (face creams).

Kiss Nail Dress
They look like frozen raindrops on your nails. I'm glad that some of them have a line of gold rather than covering the entire nail.

StreetGloss Lip Gloss 209
It's not meant to drying or too sticky. We'll see. I normally don't wear lip gloss, I'd just prefer a balm, but this might change that.

Bioderma Atoderm Cream
Sounds just like a regular moisturiser to me... But I'm excited to try this brand.

Tiaki Day Cream
This is priced at $45 for 60 grams! Interesting fact: "Tiaki" means to 'to take care of'. It's made in New Zealand, consists of only natural ingredients and their packaging is 100% biodegradable!! I'm very curious to see the effect of this day cream. Click here if you're as interested in this brand as I am.

Toni&Guy Texturising Glue
I'm unsure of what I will do with this. Maybe to get more volume? On the plus side, it smells amazing!

Montagne Jeunesse Passion Peel Off Mask
I've never used a face mask before, and can imagine how satisfying it would be to peel this off haha.

Brazilian Butterfly Assortment
This will probably be saved until the spring or summer. I will not be freezing my butt off!

Natio Nail Colour, Valentine
This bonus item is a really nice vibrant red but is wearable.

I'm excited to try most of these things. Check out Bellabox for monthly surprises!

Book review: Eona

I finished this in 6 days... that's how addicted I was. I was reading every night for about 45 minutes. As if that wasn't enough, I was also reading during the day, going through roughly 70 pages a day.

Find this image here.
Picking up after Eon, "Lady Eona" and friends join the Resistance in order to take back the throne for the rightful Emperor, Kygo. Without any proper training, Eona cannot control her newfound dragon strength, thus Ido is included in their vital plan. Through the many arguments, bonds and emotions, Eona understands what she was called to do.

Let's just say Eona's life is much more interesting than mine. Her life is choc-full of action (good or bad?), she has friends who would risk their life for her, the power to heal, and has 2 guys chasing after her. All her life, she has always been disregarded and "weak" but see her life now.

I love Alison Goodman's writing. She draws you into the story through the characters and her vivid descriptions of events. Although I did notice quite a few "said" and "asked" on some pages, it didn't take away from the story.

Eona was caught between so many conflicts and arguments that I wasn't sure which characters to trust and who were her real friends. Kygo and Eona's relationship was also extremely rocky, with betrayal and white lies fuelling their anger towards each other at certain points. Their behaviour annoyed me a little. Love and hate, love and hate. Just stick to the first one ahaha. For some reason I picture Zuko (from Avatar: The Last Airbender) as Kygo and Korra (Avatar: The Legend of Korra) as Eona.

There were several twists and events that I was definitely not expecting (someone's betrayal, someone's survival - don't want to spoil the details). I'm satisfied with the ending, having ALMOST all that I wanted to see :)

It was great to finally indulge in some novels, after 12 weeks of uni readings! Check this book out it interests you.

My top 5 most-played songs

quote | Tumblr

Good music. It's pretty high on my list of priorities. We all love our sleep (it's hard to get out of bed on a cold winter's morning), we love love (it's in every good movie we watch) and good music is just one of those things that help make our day.
Find this image here
I always find that I learn the lyrics to great songs much faster & easier than any school work.

Here are my top 5 most played songs on my computer:
1. Bright Lights by Alex Goot

2. Rainbow by Oh Land

3. Touch Your Lips to Mine by the Goodnight Fellows

4. Lights by Ellie Goulding

5. Say You Like Me by We The Kings

Check out these songs if they are new to you. They are my top 5 songs, so I don't need to tell you how much I like them.

I've been sorting through and organising my jewellery.

It stands on my bookshelf with some of my favourite books.

It's purpose may not be to hold jewellery, but it works well.

These are some of my most-worn bracelets, my only 3 rings, and all my earrings.

Book review: Eon

I finished Eon by Alison Goodman just last night, and started on its sequel today.

It's about a girl, under disguise as a boy, for the chance to be chosen as the next Dragoneye ascendant. Dragoneyes protect the land from monsoons, floods and disasters of the like. They are highly respected, and are just beneath the Emperial family in the hierarchy. Eon, now Lord Eon, tries to claim 'his' power while escaping from Lord Ido's treacherous plan.

The book was easy to read, fast paced and different to anything I had read before. In my second time reading, it definitely wasn't as good as the first despite my inability to remember the plot.

I'm not that picky as far as books go, but it just seemed that Lord Ido was extreme evil, going to all lengths to get what he wants. He wasn't very subtle in his abuse of power, but none of the other characters tried to oppose him, except Lord Brannon. Without spoiling anything, I just want to say that the ending was quite abrupt. I understand that Eon is powerful, but to what extent?

That was pretty much all the negatives about the book, in my opinion. I was satisfied with the writing, the persona of the characters were described in detail and pulled you into their world.

I'm still enjoying reading Eona. What are you currently reading?

30 Day Snap #10

It is the final day of the long weekend. We decided to spend this day eating and playing games at a family friend's place. Adults are still having dinner, while the kids are playing 'murder in the dark'.

A scarf is a must.

The scenery outside this window was perfect. Sorry for the lines of the fly screen, but no perfect scenery can get me outside in the cold and wet weather.

Everything has changed

Have you seen the new music video for Everything Has Changed?

There was so much attention to detail:
  • Ed junior reading comics and drinking _________ (milk? coffee?) on the bus
  • cookie/macaron making
  • costuming of the play- princess Taylor Jr. and astronaut Ed Jr.
  • sitting on the monkey bars. They are so mature compared to the other kids running around in the playground
  • Ed Jr. reading The Notebook
  • their wooden iphones. This was probably my favourite part of the video
  • the owl backpack is also so cute

It's currently 11:45pm and I just remembered to blog!

I usually watch YouTube videos or read while in bed. Not having to do uni readings has left me with so much spare time. I'm currently reading (re-reading) Eon by Alison Goodman. I read it 2 years ago and want to jog my memory before reading the sequel, Eona.

I've been reorganising my bookshelf, and these are my 2 favourite shelves. The top contains dictionaries, puzzles and some of my favourite novels. Some of my jewellery and DVDs are also up there since I haven't found a place for them yet. The bottom shelf houses my collection of children's books. There's never a better time to clean and reorganise than when you have an assignment due the next day :)

I'm on my 5th episode of Suits for the day... I don't know why I stopped watching! I love all the characters (except Trevor). Despite the law jargon and not being able to understand all the details, the characters hook you in.

Once upon a time

Wallpaper-once-upon-a-time-32322454-1920-1080_large

After a couple weeks of "rubbish" episodes, Once Upon a Time is starting to interest me again. At first, there were so many characters to keep track of, but the storyline was a nice twist on traditional fairytales. It just seems to me that Regina is on the good side for 1 episode, then evil the next. Nonetheless, I love her character. Do it for Henry!

What happened to Mary-Maraget's independence?! It annoys me when she's so indecisive about her actions. I understand that she's a goody-goody but it's too extreme. Her character was really interesting when she lived in the woods, on the run from the Evil Queen.

Rumplstiltskin was and remains to be one of the more entertaining characters, doing anything and everything to get what he wants. But just like Regina, he seems to be on the fence of good and evil.

I'm excited for the next season to find out more about Neverland and Neal's situation.
